SUMMARY
Objective: Develop an Educational Module for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in stage V of a Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis Hospital Service, which allows its subsequent implementation in the Pharmaceutical Care consultation.
Method: In a first stage a bibliographic review on the disease and its treatment was carried out. Subsequently, a clinical, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in which the instrument of Predictive Factors of Therapeutic Adherence was applied to 9 patients belonging to the Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis Program to identify the main characteristics and educational needs of the target population. Pharmaceutical interventions were carried out, such as the preparation of organizers. Finally, a proposal was made for a rotary type educational module which was submitted to an initial validation of experts by the Pharmaceutical Care Network for its future implementation.
Results: The literature review and the diagnosis of the population have allowed the elaboration and validation of an educational module focused on improving adherence in patients with advanced CKD.
Conclusion: The educational module is an important health education resource for patients with advanced CKD, and can offer within the framework of Pharmaceutical Care activities, in collaboration with the physician and other health professionals.
