SUMMARY
Objective: Characterize drug information’s inquiries from Drug Information Center of the Trauma Hospital.
Methods: Prospective descriptive study was conducted from December 2013 to June 2014 at the Trauma Hospital in Costa Rica. The drug information’s inqueries received were characterized. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS® version 19.
Results: A total of 75 queries were recorded. The main types of consultants were nurses (37%) and pharmacists (29%), from the same hospital. The principal kinds of queries were: 27 (36%) about dose and/or routes of administration and 17 (23%) about incompatibilities and parenteral mixtures. The drugs that a greater number of queries generated belonged to the category nervous system and anti-infective.
Conclusions: The drug information promotes the active participation of pharmacist improving patient care in hospital.
