SUMMARY
Objective: To analyse and evaluate professional preferences and perceptions of students in the fifth year of Pharmacy Degree (UCM).
Material and methods: An ad hoc anonymous questionnaire has been used related to professional jobs in Pharmacy, academic preparation and its adaptation to job employment and, design of Pharmacy Degree.
Results: The most attractive job opportunities for students at the beginning of Pharmacy Degree include pharmaceutical industry, teaching and research, hospital pharmacy and clinical analysis whereas the less attractive are military pharmacy, pharmaceutical distribution, food and community pharmacy. Similar profile is observed at the end of Pharmacy degree, however, there are two significant changes (p=0.025), a lower preference for teaching and research and, on the contrary, a rise in governmental jobs. Moreover, community pharmacy, despite not being one of the most demanding professional careers, is the job for which surveyed students consider to be better qualified.
Conclusions: Finally, the question arises whether Pharmacy degree should be more specialized to adapt it to the world of work.
