SUMMARY
Pharmaceutical care emerged as an alternative to better use and raise awareness of the rational and correct use of medicines. Failure to responsible self-medication is a common practice where the patient decides what medicine you are using. This study evaluated the prescription and dispensing of medicines method performed in a Basic Health Unit (BHU) in the city of Araras/SP according to the user approaches to the aspect of the doctor-dispenser-user relationship. They analyzed data obtained from the questionnaire response of 100 volunteers aged 18 to 60 who attended the UBS during the months of the study. The demand for people who seek the public sector in this region is high. However, the quality of care does not occur in full. As for the medical procedure, 51.6% of users, said the doctor asked about drug allergies and 53.2% on whether you are using other medications. Noted that doctors guided in 79.0% of occasions about the correct way of using drugs, 58.1% on the importance of respecting the pharmacological treatment. On the purchase of medicines, the clerk was most responsible for dispensing (50%). The results show low levels in the correct prescription and guidance to the patient by physicians and professional pharmacy process. There needs to be improvement, training and lectures to raise awareness of these professionals ensuring an improvement in patient care. Also it is necessary to further link between doctors and pharmacists to better serve their audience.
